Marissa Johnson: Video Editing
Evaluation
What effects did you use or what were you going to use (including sound)?
This is the editing software were could change the entire video. For example we could change the video images through effect like 'Paint Bucket' were the different sections of the video are pained a different colour such as green, red and yellow. However i didn't know how to keep the paint on the stairs for the effect of blood because it always spilled onto the top tier of the stair case and it would be around lower parts as well. Another visual effect would be 'warping' this effect allows a shot to to warped and distorted, However this i didn't fit with the theme since it made the entire video look bad. Instead we added a 'ghosting' effect where it takes the first frame of the shot and moves it around to add a unnatural element.
The sounds we used was instrumentals of different songs such as 'Enter Sandman' and 'Devil in I'. These songs fit the idea alright but we couldn't find any more song since we ran out of time so we had only two songs so i don't think that advert was that informative about the type of songs on it.
What did you enjoy about this project?
I enjoyed the idea of going around college and filming a short advert so that i could fit into a thirty second advert. this made us plan out the shots more carefully. I also enjoyed the short films we watched as to get a good idea on how directors used different shots.
What scenes were cut/changed from your final advert?
There were no scenes cut from our final project because we had carefully constructed the different scenes enough to know how long each shot should be, so we didn't need to cut anything. However we did change was the title so instead 'Goth CD' we changed it to 'Goth Compilation' since there were two different type of music in the video.

Photography Evaluation/Memory Check
Memory check – a recap of things we have covered so far
Q1. What is ISO and what does it
effect?
It is the 'International Standards Organisation' the ISO effects how much light sensitivity there is.
Q2. When would we use the ‘P’ control
setting on the camera mode dial.
The 'p' stands for program this mainly used by novice photographers because it allows the camera to do all of the settings
Q3. Name two
important consideration when attaching the tripod
base plate to the bottom of
camera?
One of the considerations that are important is if the arrow underneath of the base plate is pointing towards the camera lens.
then we need to check if the base plate was was tight enough so that the camera doesn't fall off
Q4. Name three
important considerations when using a red-head lighting kit.
- the heat that would be generated
- securing the red head to the lighting stand
- don't touch the barn doors
Q5. When focusing the camera, what
do we place on the object/subject to ensure it is the center of
focus?
we place a grid that are separated in thirds. Or an L.E.D square.
Q6. Name two techniques we can use
to adjust the brightness and contrast of a photograph?
- Curves and Levels
- the aperture setting
Evaluation:
During these past 5 weeks we were tasked with creating a magazine advert with images we took our selves however we had to do a freak or unique theme to it. We did this by researching different images we started out copying 10 images we liked that also fit the criteria of this project. After this we had to narrow the selection down to 5 image from the selected 10 that we could try and replicate the feel of the images. From these images i have learnt that there is a correlation between these different images that is they all have a unique photogenic look such as having an image with a two tone color pallet. My first idea was to have a clown to the left with a field behind him and a type of mist in the background. My second idea was to have a merge of image of my classmates and merge them together like Picasso. My final one was to have an advert for running shoes i did this by portraying the shoes as a strong athlete stamping on a weak athlete making way for a stronger competition, there is a Kit-Kat bar inside the shoe showing that you can become a great athlete without giving up your favorite things. then the statue with the lanyard is for the symbolism of the fans of sport and how they will praise you. Finally the hard drive will represent the amount of data that will be needed to record all of the great moments that you will do as soon as you put on the shoes.
Photography skills
The photography skills i have developed, is the knowledge of how the camera works and the different modes and knowing when to use them. I used a seamless background. this allowed me to correctly cut out the images.
Four Edited Final Shot, What editing process did you use.
the editing process I used the curved tool and the level tool to adjust images exposure and back ground for the four images then i used the pen tool to have an accurate pathway so that i can cut out the images correctly. Another editing was to cut out a piece of the shoe then copying it then pasting on top of the kit at bar.
Examples of your final design artwork
This artwork show how i wanted to depict the advert so I used this as the basis for my final advert.
What would you do differently next time and what did you learn from your first assignment
I learned how to compose a image correctly by using the rule of three and what the different modes were on the dial such as ' program, speed, aperture and manual.' i also know how a basic studio is set up and what equipment was used to do it.What i would do different would be having a more detailed objects to take image. So that I can make a better image that was made by the merged images.

Freak or Unique

Why I Liked It – I liked this image because it was
done naturally by the subject and the subject of this picture was behind a
black background therefore the contrast is really well done. The equipment for this was only a camera,
stage lights and a black back drop. I don’t believe that there were that many editing techniques involved with this picture besides maybe an edit in contrast to
make it stand out even more.

Why I Liked It – I liked it because of the
genral concept it seemed like the edittor had a blast editing the image and
from the looks of it they used at least 3
images and combined them together. From the look of the image they use a
garden for the background then they took
a picture of a random hand the replaced some of it with a another picture of
someones face. By the looks of the overall image it seems that they used the
clone tool for the editing of the
picture and increased the exposure for the hand.

What I Like About It – The way they edited by
using a technuiqe were they copyied both of the faces and swapped them by using
a multitude of layers.the props this photographer is a doll as well as using a
child model.
What I Liked About It – They way they edited a
pre-existing image to make it really weird by copying the legs of the orginal
image then adding to another layer and enlarging it.

What I Like About It: I like this because of the
way they had a large aputure so the
backgorund of this picture is only slightly blured so that it would allow the
man to be the subject of intrest without the audeance getting distracted. I
don’t believe they did any major editing
to this picture.

What I like about it:
they merge 2 images together but the real genius behind this image is the way
they blend the dog together with hair

Owain Davies: Magazine final
Evaluation
In this session I have produced an advert for a sports magazine, the ad is for sport trainers that will be mainly used by a certain groups within the sporting community. these are the urban gymnast, runners and black top basket ballers.
However I believe my work in previous sessions are a lot better than this image. this is because with this I have a small white square between the two trainers.
These are the original designs for the advert. The theme for the advert on the left has the product over the city because it is were the most amount of sales will take place. While the one on the right presents the product like there are already sell because they are on the front page. this also show that these products are the most popular at the current moment.

The research that went into this project was how different types of grip affects the athletic portion of the total population, another bit of research that went into the design of this image was were the most amount take place therefore it helped me because I put in an city for it's background and a Orange circle for a ball and the wing that represent freedom.in this process of creating this ad I learnt how to use the 'magic wand' tool this is allows me to select the entirety of one colour such as a white background then it will allow you to cut it out or to do any other effects.

Marissa Johson: Finishing Pre-Planning
In this lesson we finished of the pre-planing that we were doing in the last lesson so by the time it comes to our next lesson were we will be actually filming.
The image to the left is the finished CD case
cover and below is the actual CD.after we printed it out we used a guillotine to cut out the images in a straight lines.

Mark Epton: Creating Freak or Unquiet - Photography/Proposal
In this lesson we had to finish off taking any pictures that are needed.then we used the Photoshop program.
these images on the left are the few of the things we had to take pictures. the problems we had for this was the shadows, since we couldn't move the red head because of the heat it was generating
Proposal:
My ideas for these images was to have them was to use them as an advert for sporting shoes. my first idea was to have the image of the shoe blurred out so it could represent how fast you could move if you bought this, then for the Kit-Kat bar would be trampled by the shoe and i would also desaturate the image of the Kit-Kat bar to show the irrelevance of calories when wear these shoes. then the next image was the Sponge bob Square pants was going the shoes to show that even animated characters are wearing these shoes. Finally

Owain Davies:Different Logos
In this lesson i was told to find different types of fonts on the website 'DaFonts.com' - http://www.dafont.com/.

When we got onto the website we had to do a print screen on the page where the font we want is. After this we went onto the Photoshop by using the start menu and then transformed it so it can be big enough to see. after this we used the marquee tool to get rid of anything unnecessary, after this i hid the background and then used the Magic Wand tool to get rid of the white background of the actual logo on each layer.
The reasons why i chose these 5 themes that are on the left is because it shows what Oculus is about in one way or another. For example the first one shows what we wanted the theme to be because it almost seems like it is written in blood. The next logo seems to be written in a Gothic style, the next logo seem to be used in some type of black magic. the fourth seems to be made by using quick one stroke motions. Finally the last one is distorted so it can represent what the CD is all about.
In the end had to design our own logos then we had to present them to our own group and selected the one.

Marissa Johnson: Advert Proposal
In this lesson we were told to move back into our groups and then started to brainstorm the locations that we could use in our advert however the maximum number of possible location was only three since the advert would only be 15 to 30 seconds long.
we in first location we decided on was the spiral staircase because of its contrast between natural lighting and artificial lighting, and since it has angle when you go down stairs we can do different camera tricks.
This sheet allows us to have a check list for our chosen locations such as.
